About

Gonzalo Bacigalupe, EdD (University of Massachusetts Amherst), MPH (Harvard University), is Ikerbasque Research Professor at the Department of Personality, Evaluation, and Psychological Treatment, College of Psychology and Education at the University of Deusto; he is also associate professor in the Family Therapy Program, Department of Counseling Psychology, College of Education and Human Development at the University of Massachusetts Boston; adjunct professor  with the Master Psychotherapeutic Intervention at the National University at Distance in Spain (UNED). Bacigalupe is presently developing a research agenda that evaluates the impact of social technologies (ICTs) on family process, transnational families, and collaborative health. With funding from the Spanish government, his colleagues at Deusto and him are researching adolescent depression using longitudinal mixed methodologies. His research has included transnational families and couples, political and family violence, refugees and immigrants’ health, and health disparities (chronic pain, medication strategies and literacy, asthma). He has been Senior Fulbright Research Fellow, and an APF grantee. Dr. Bacigalupe is Associate Editor of Family Systems & Health and member of the editorial boards of the Journal of Marital & Family Therapy, and Qualitative Research in Psychology. He is an elected Councilor of the American Pubic Health Association International Section and Vice-President for Public Interest and Diversity of the Society of Family Psychology, Division 43 of the American Psychological Association and has been appointed to advisor to the APA Presidential Task Force on Immigration.
